Our Story
In the beginning, 2003, four couples committed to their Jewish community sought an alternative way to celebrate the high holidays. They envisioned an intimate Jewish experience that would embrace the needs of adults with grown children, many of whom were about to start their own families. Shortly thereafter, nine couples, all who had been active in Synagogue life, joined together and established Chavurat Emet, a Circle of Friends. Our first High Holiday service held in a conference room at a local hotel attracted more than fifty families. The lively spiritual service filled with traditional and modern melodies and the enthusiasm and warmth among all the families inspired the founders to find a permanent home for Chavurat Emet. Beit Chavurah was generously donated by one special couple. Other members donated new prayer books and furnishings and an entire community joined together as we acquired the first of two torahs at a community wide dedication.
Chavurat Emet now has social, educational and social-action events. We join together each month for a lively service and celebrate the holidays in our own unique style. We are a caring circle of friends, who enjoy worshiping, learning together and sharing life cycle events. We welcome you to learn more about us and experience the boundless ruach of Chavurat Emet.
